Putting the Content in WeCanHas
I’ve done this compass about 4 times over a period of about a year now from www.politicalcompass.org its very good - you should try it.
The result this time I decided would be worth blogging about. But first of all it needs explaining and for the full explanation you should go to the website. A brief intro to it would be that there are two scales, the economic scale (left to right) and the social scale (top to bottom), this shows basically what each means:

On the social scale authoritarian refers to a one party state system (Hitler, Stalin), a Libertarian view would be a more free social community eg a Anarchist state, where the government is not all powerful. Around the center points is where most of our current day politicians lie eg Gordon Brown and so on.
On the economic scale it deals with aspect of collectivism eg Communism, where everyone works together for the state etc. Then on the right is a neo-liberalism view of a independent free economy.
Evidently I am closest to the stereotypes of Communism and Anarchism. Swaying more to a controlled economy - which I agree with as long as it is controlled for the benefit of the people and masses. Then on a social scale I am far from the authoritarian stamp, rather a more liberal view.
Good times!
Also when I was on the website I found this:

It shows the political transition of all parties to a more conservative, authoritarian stance. Very bad news.
I think im going to vote for the Green Party at this rate especailly after I found this graph which defianalty shows them to be more of my kind of people. Which is a shame because labour is going down the drain and I used to like labour - in the 1940’s.

Whenever you charge someone for a service or good then it is the rich who benefit because they can buy the most. There is no doubt that this is true – it fundamentally is part of society. The rich can afford the most and the best. Should they be able to do this, should they be allowed to do this? How can you define if someone deserves this?
A normal, average worker who gets paid the “normal, average” wage, if he is successful he will get more money. Then only through his endurance and effort will he be able to achieve high status and high pay.
The rich, greedy, bourgeoisies can’t easily be defined as they once were. There are many more people in today’s freer more liberal society who are able to work for more financial and social mobility – should these people be branded as capitalists, greedy and unequal because they have achieved this.
No! They are the perhaps the greatest workers in society; and the people who really do work from the bottom upwards are rewarded by our capitalist society with money. This is how our system works.
The real flaw to this system is that many people do not work form the bottom upwards, they receive privileges throughout life. Everyone should be treated fairly. This is the issue I have with private schools – that benefit the rich and don’t require people who go to them to put the same effort in.
I am sure there are many arguments you could put against this and I have already talked about this in a previous blog. I do think that the closure of private schools would ensure a more egalitarian society.
More money should be put into state education, how? By diverting military spending, this cripples the world’s economy and leads only to death and violence. This may seem like a utopian view. But ask yourself if this world needs such a high state of militirisation.
I recently read the worlds defence budget is around $900 billion per annum. If you consider a third of this could help to elevate world poverty, you can really see how the capitalists are persistent not to create an equal society!

Word on the streets says there’s something about. What is it? Is it a pimp, is it your mum? I don’t know man!

The bourgeoisie have dominance in our government! This is the problem; we can hardly claim to be a democratic nation where the people who have the power if the majority of parliament and the cabinet are privately educated and members of the wealthier classes. You may say there is little wrong with this but private education costs money; it is therefore only the upper classes, the privileged classes that can afford to send their children there. Of course any working class parent could theoretically send their child there if they had the money but what chance would there be of their child being accepted. It is the people with money who have the power here and most frighteningly the power over our education system. This may come across as trivial but private education almost secures a better chance at a better paid job, or a greater hold of power. The rich are therefore replaced by the privately educated rich. They are not going to let this position go, they devised the system so they could secure power for themselves. Little has really changed from the days of the monarchy. One class rule and benefit!
What should be done to stop this, the abolishment of private education. There should be one school system and that is the state system. Everyone is in theory given an equal chance, the poor and rich are in competition. The rich are not a superior species and they will not find themselves excelling at everything, the poor, average families have a chance to stand against their wealthy rivals.
This will not answer the problem of a dominated bourgeoisie government but it is a step to help and aid the proletariat in securing power, democracy and an egalitarian state.
Today I saw “The Happening”, so beware this blog which is presented in the nature of a review does have spoilers of a sort. Beware!
The movie stars a man that looks remarkably like Matt Damon which is the only real reason I got excited about it, as Matt Damon is quite a loveable guy. it is infact Mark Wahlberg

Whos who??
Yes, indeed.
Well anyway the film basically follows the similar disaster principles in movies and many of the deaths are very well done. It was perhaps my favorite part of the movie watching the deaths. I dont mean this in a sick way, or a boyish way. I mean that they really were the most chilling and exciting parts of the movie. Whereas compare this to the bad acting, Zooey Deschanel being perhaps one of the worst. Although she does have very nice blue eyes. The film is very tedious at points althought it manages to be funny.
The baisc Idea of the plot (SPOLIER) is that the people are dying due to the weather basicaly in a organised plot to kill humans - this is what we are led to believe. It doesnt make it the actual reason. So yes the morale is good to the story, we shouldnt be mistreating the enviroment. Yet we do terribly so why shouldnt we expect a reaction.
I have to be honest, I was dissapointed. The director is going downhill with his recent attempts since “Signs”. Better luck next time

June the 17th is set to be a big day for the web browser that spawned from the now dead Netscape browser.
On June the 17th Firefox will be releasing it’s 3rd version of it’s browser, and at the same time, is holding a “Download day”. Why? You might ask. The goal of the Mozilla Foundation (the people behind firefox), is to enter the Guiness Book of records for the most downloaded software in 24 years. As far as i could find out no-one else had ever done anything like this, so setting the record won’t be a particulary hard thing to do. But what a great way to start off your new version, with a World Record.
To Pledge to download you should go to here. As of writing this 1,282,744 have pledged.
Firefox 3 is set to bring a host of new featured, including a new look, which blends to the UI of the computer that you’re using. A new and improved address bar, and bookmarking system. And updated version of Gecko, the layout engine which powers Firefox. And, the long awaited fixes to the Memory Leak Issues that everyone seems to get.
Firefox 3 is set to make a great release.
Hello, I am back and its wonderful to be back because I have no longer got the same ordeal of work to endure. I wont exaggerate though, exams aren’t that bad and like the dying bumble bees I thrive on work.
The exams I have taken in History, English, Geog and Graphics and consider I have done “OK”, which Mr Charles replied with “That’s Ben, he never gives much away; he would make a good poker player” (or something to that nature).
I now have free time which is fantastic because I use it doing very little. My new found time has flourished a new season on NHL hockey on the xbox (360). With the truly fantastic Philadelphia flyers, who I would like to add have beaten the Penguins on two occasions already (how fantastic).
I would also like to make, what is in my mind a increasing issue. It is with the IE/Firefox browser choice. I have naturally been with Firefox for a good amount of time, its fantastic I love Firefox. However, recently it has been performing shockingly – its loading speeds are terrible. You could say that this was the fault of my internet but when I decided to use IE, out of desperation and yet it out performs firefox. This does make me very sad because firefox is the better browser and I have a few good plug-ins for it.
Im just saddened That’s all. Saddened!
Latest events include the fact that I passed my driving test and now drive to college on a daily basis. My wheels are the subject of much devotion which I can only presume is based on my gangsta lean’in out the window and playing Bob Marley loudly.
I also am now regretably supporting capitalism in joining the workforce, I am starting at Woolworths on the 17th May. Maybe this will lead to my demise as it is detremental to everything I stand for, my mental stability and weekend oppertunities.
Exams are also coming up in a rather short number of days and well as exams always do, they scare. Arn’t we all shaking in our booties! Yes, well no… Im not sure.
Then finally is the conclusion that I shouldn’t be sat on a computer - unless the computer was based outside (an all weather computer) becuase it is sunny. So sunny!
